What customers ask AI about remodelers

These are the kinds of questions I run when I audit remodelers. They are examples of real buyer phrasing, not results.

  • "Best kitchen remodeler near me"
  • "Who does bathroom remodels with walk in showers in my area?"
  • "How long does a kitchen remodel take?"
  • "Do I need a permit to remove a wall?"
  • "How do I choose a remodeling contractor?"

Urgent jobs and planned jobs

Almost all remodeling is planned. Questions focus on design, timelines, permits, process and how to choose a contractor. A few are urgent, like repairs after water damage.

Urgent questions reward accurate hours, a clear service area and recent reviews. Planned questions reward clear service pages, credentials and honest answers to the research questions people ask before they call.

Sites AI tends to lean on

Every trade has its own set of trusted sources. For remodelers, these come up often when I trace where an answer came from.

  • Houzz. Project photos and reviews on Houzz are commonly cited for remodeling questions.
  • Google Business Profile. Reviews that describe the project and process carry weight.
  • NARI and NAHB directories. Trade association listings add credibility for planned projects.
  • BBB. Contract and reliability questions often pull from it.

Your Google Business Profile sits under all of them. If it is incomplete, fixes elsewhere count for less.

Schema and service pages to add

Structured data helps machines read your facts without guessing. Our schema guide covers the basics. For remodelers I usually suggest:

  • GeneralContractor or HomeAndConstructionBusiness as the type.
  • Service for kitchen, bathroom, basement and whole home remodels.
  • FAQPage for timeline and permit questions.
  • BreadcrumbList across project pages.

Give these services their own page, each stating the service and the towns you cover in plain words:

  • Kitchen remodeling
  • Bathroom remodeling
  • Room additions
  • Whole home renovations

Where I would start

  1. Keep an active Houzz profile with real project photos.
  2. Publish a clear page on your process from first visit to final walkthrough.
  3. Give each project type its own page with local examples described in words.

Then we check the same questions on a schedule across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Claude, and read the trend over months. No one can guarantee a spot in an AI answer. We improve the sources and show you the results.

Straight answers

Straight answers.

Does Houzz matter for AI answers?

For remodeling, it often does. It is a common source for project photos and reviews.

Should I explain my process online?

Yes. People ask AI how remodeling works and how to choose a contractor. A clear process page answers both.

Can I describe projects without naming clients?

Yes. Describe the scope, the town and what changed. Keep client details private unless they agree in writing.

Are timelines safe to publish?

Typical ranges with the factors that change them are helpful. Avoid firm promises.
